Sarah Parsons

Sarah Parsons

A Missouri native, Sarah grew up in the Kansas City area. She attended the University of Missouri, where she received a B.S. in Mathematics and Atmospheric Science and an M.Ed. in Math Education.

Sarah served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Uganda for two years, where she taught math, science, and HIV/AIDS prevention. Upon returning to the States, she taught math at the high school and college level for several years before joining the Truman School.

Sarah is expecting to earn a Master of Public Affairs degree in 2013, after which she hopes to pursue a doctoral degree in the Truman School. In addition to holding the position of the Truman School of Public Affairs Grant Writing Program Coordinator, she is in the Peace Corps Fellowship program at MU.

Dr. Colleen Heflin

Dr. Colleen Heflin

Dr. Heflin is an associate professor at the Truman School of Public Affairs at the University of Missouri. She is also affiliated with the Institute of Public Policy at the University of Missouri and the National Poverty Center at the University of Michigan. She is an interdisciplinary scholar whose work is at the nexus of social stratification, social epidemiology, and social welfare policy research.
