Degrees that Make A Difference

Commencement on the quad The Harry S Truman School of Public Affairs offers two graduate degree programs (MPA and Ph.D.) and five graduate certificates. All are designed to prepare graduates for professional careers in public affairs.

Master of Public Affairs (MPA)

The Truman School's innovative MPA prepares graduates to enter or advance in public service careers. A diverse student body and an outstanding faculty make for a vibrant learning environment.

Doctor of Philosophy in Public Affairs (PhD)

The School's PhD program provides the academic knowledge, research skills, and experience needed for research and scholarship in public policy and management. Graduates are well prepared for careers in university teaching and research as well as for careers in applied research settings.

Certificate Programs

Graduate certificates allow students to gain knowledge in a specialized area of interest. Students take 12 credit hours in their chosen area of study. The Truman School offers certificates in five areas: Grant Writing, Nonprofit Management, Organizational and Community Change, Public Management, and Science and Public Policy .
