TSPA Associate Professor Earns 2010 Best Paper Honors from European Management Review

Truman School Associate Professor Peter Klein, together with his co-authors Joseph Mahoney, Anita McGahan, and Christos Pitelis, will receive the 2010 Best Paper Award from the European Management Review at a ceremony to be held in June, the journal's editors announced last week.

In their award citation, the editors credited the paper, "Toward a theory of public entrepreneurship," with opening "a new field of research."

"While entrepreneurship is a buzz word today, little attention has been paid to the possibility that the innovation, experimentation and energy that entrepreneurial activity bring to the private initiative can be put to use in the public domain as well," they wrote. "The paper develops a framework to analyze these issues."

The article is available online at the publisher's website.

Klein is Director of the McQuinn Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Associate Professor of Applied Social Sciences at the University of Missouri and Adjunct Professor at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. His research focuses on entrepreneurship and the economics of organization, with applications to innovation, finance, public policy, and economic growth.
