- Instructor/Community Economist Deadline 9/15/2008
- This position is in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, Oregon State University. The community economist will create an outreach/education and applied research program in urban and rural community economics, focusing on issues of importance to Western Oregon. The faculty member will provide systematic analyses of rural communities, urban neighborhoods and the economic interdependence of urban and rural areas, and explore the implications for both urban and rural areas of policy changes and major economic shifts. S/he will also provide sustained economic development outreach to a variety of state and local governments, agencies, and organizations in both rural and urban communities in Western Oregon. These efforts will typically involve local Extension faculty and are designed to develop capacity within Extension Service faculty to understand the structure of their local economies and the potential for economic development; as well as to assess the local economic impacts of specific activities or regulations. This position requires significant travel around Oregon.
