Women’s Foundation and IPP research prompts new paid parental leave policy
Missouri Governor Eric Greitens signed Executive Order 17-09 on March 13, 2017, making state workers for executive branch agencies eligible for up to six weeks of paid leave after the birth or adoption of a child. The executive order encourages other state-elected officials, commissions, and the legislative and judicial branches of Missouri government to adopt similar policies.
In his announcement, Greitens cites research by the Women’s Foundation and the Institute of Public Policy as a factor informing his decision to establish the new policy, calling it “an important step forward for our state.”
An integral part of the Truman School of Public Affairs, the Institute of Public Policy (IPP) provides independent, evidence-based state and national policy recommendations related to education, public health, public safety, social services, and regional and economic development.
