21st Century Afterschool Program Evaluation

Policy Areas

Boonslick YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, and CHALIS

About the Project

The 21st Century Community Learning Center program provides funding to three programs in the Columbia/Boonville area for enhanced afterschool education.  Programs use the funding to provide additional teachers and counselors, conduct ongoing training, make curriculum improvements, and enhance the afterschool opportunities of area youth.  The Institute of Public Policy has been contracted by each of the programs to conduct an external evaluation of the programming including progress toward reaching student academic and behavioral outcomes, parent engagement, and training for staff and administrators.

Hundreds of youth are involved in afterschool programs that provide learning and recreational opportunities and keep kids safe.  Continuous evaluation provides information about how programs and can be improved to reach and retain youth in quality afterschool programs.
