Assimilation and acculturation in immigration
Trang Pham earned her bachelor’s degree in English for Technology from Hanoi University of Technology in 2010. She then worked as an international relations officer at TYM Microfinance Institution, a prominent microfinance organization in Vietnam. Having gained an interest in development issues through daily work, she moved to the United Kingdom in 2013 to attend the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at University of Sussex on a Chevening Scholarship, a UK-government international award. After earning a master’s degree, she returned to Hanoi to work more on consultancy and to research various development issues such as financial literacy, early childhood development, and agriculture value chains.
Currently, she is working at the intersection of higher education policy and immigration through projects investigating how international faculty members navigate the American academic environment. She also works in other projects that look at faculty welfare and productivity.
