Last week, Wendy Doyle, CEO of United We, spoke at a forum entitled “Access to Opportunity: Creating a Level Playing Field for Entrepreneurship,” an opportunity for women to share experiences on entrepreneurship. Panelists included Steven Brown, Urban Institute, Wendy Doyle, United WE, Kenan Fikri, Economic Innovation Group, Morris Kleiner, University of Minnesota, Jessica Looze, Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Chad Reese, Institute for Justice, Evan Starr, University of Maryland, Jason Wiens, Ewing, Marion Kauffman Foundation. While the dialogue continues to explore ways to empower women business owners, some legislative processes have stalled, while others have been signed into law. Citing research conducted by MU’s Institute of Public Policy, United We emphasized that while many challenges continue to exist, it is crucial to understand why and to advocate for corrective policy changes.
