IPP analysts, Kristi Ressel and Zach Buckler, attended the 43rd Annual Legislative Day, held in the third floor Rotunda of the Capitol building in Jefferson City yesterday. It was an opportunity for members of the University of Missouri community to meet and greet legislators and showcase MU research and service projects which improve the lives of Missourians. The event was well attended and ran from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM, kicking off with the MAA & MU Extension Legislator Breakfast. The Capitol then opened for visits and Legislative displays, among them five interactive displays by various MU departments that highlighted critical mission areas. A number of meetings and gatherings took place and one day prior to his first day in office, President-designate Dr. Mun Y. Choi addressed attendees at the Legislative Rally, stressing the importance of the UM System and higher education to the state. Missouri Lt. Governor, Mike Parson, joined with remarks about the important work the university system does to prepare students for the jobs of the future. Campus leadership met with key legislators and elected officials, including Gov. Greitens, to discuss priorities and continuation of MU’s pursuit of research excellence.
IPP analysts met with representatives and senators of the Missouri General Assembly and discussed the wide breadth of services and public policy work being conducted at the Institute and at the Truman School.
