Research that advances governance and public policy around the world is central to the mission of the Truman School.  To produce high impact research, scholars need opportunities to engage with colleagues and build connections across universities. Strong professional communities provide essential opportunities to collaborate, receive feedback, and strengthen research. 

Leadership in scholarly communities is an important part of the Truman School’s mission, and Dr. Lael Keiser is putting that principle into practice through national leadership in the field of public management.

In June, Keiser led the Public Management Research Association (PMRA) conference at American University, concluding the first year of service as PMRA president. The Truman School was proud to invest in this national conference both in sponsorship and through Keiser’s leadership. The PMRA brings together scholars dedicated to advancing research and practice in public management and public policy.

“Serving as president of PMRA has given me insights into leadership across different settings outside of Mizzou,” Keiser said. “My favorite part of participating in PMRA is getting to know all the wonderful colleagues in the field, providing opportunities for collaboration, and improve research.”
