Dr. Sara Gable appointed new Director of the Institute of Public Policy

The Harry S Truman School of Public Affairs at the University of Missouri is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sara Gable as the new Director of the Institute of Public Policy (IPP), effective September 1, 2020. Since 1996, Dr. Gable has served on the faculty at the University of Missouri, first in Human Development and Family Studies and more recently as an Associate Professor and State Extension Specialist in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology (http://nep.missouri.edu/faculty_gable.html). Dr. Gable’s applied and scholarly activities focus on children’s health and academic readiness, the child care workforce, and early care and education policy. From 2016-2019, she was the Faculty Fellow in MU’s Office of Research and Economic Development.

Dr. Gable's experience and expertise will compliment the existing work of the Institute and also provide opportunities for further growth and partnership across the state. The Institute of Public Policy is the source for independent, nonpartisan public policy analysis in Missouri. IPP provides a wide scope of services to local, state, and non-profit decisions makers through program evaluation, policy analysis, research, training, data collection and management, and survey design. In January 2019, the Institute of Public Policy merged with the Office of Social and Economic Data Analysis (OSEDA), to combine the strengths of their respective programs and collaborative partnerships to serve the state of Missouri.

I would also like to thank Dr. Mark White, who has served as Interim Director of IPP, and has provided excellent leadership through this transition. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Gable to the Institute of Public Policy.

Sincerely,

Lael Keiser
