University Leadership Sends Message of Support in Wake of Tragic New Zealand Attack

March 16, 2019

Dear University community,

We send this message in the wake of the recent terror attack that took the lives of more than 40 people and injured scores of others at two mosques in New Zealand.

These members of the Muslim community had their lives cut short by a hateful and senseless act of violence. Today, as a university community, we stand together against such intolerance. There is no place for such hatred in our society and we condemn these acts.

Please know that we support each and every one of you affected by this tragedy. As a reminder, each of our universities has counseling resources available for students, and the Employee Assistance Program is available to faculty and staff.

Sincerely,

Mun Y. Choi, President, UM System
Alexander N. Cartwright, Chancellor, MU
C. Mauli Agrawal, Chancellor, UMKC
Christopher G. Maples, Interim Chancellor, Missouri S&T
Thomas F. George, Chancellor, UMSL
