The Institute of Public Policy is conducting several smaller studies to contribute to the overall project, which is led by Dr. Kathleen Quinn, Associate Dean, MU School of Medicine, Office of Rural Health.  One project will develop and implement an evaluation system to measure overall progress toward the goal of increasing primary care physicians for rural and underserved Missouri.  For a separate study, IPP will analyze patient participation in care coordination programs, prepare a literature review about adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) during COVID-19, and conduct interviews with MU School of Medicine and Extension administration about “evidence-based” practices.  The final activity involves interviewing and surveying health care providers in rural parts of the state to better understand their readiness, perceptions, and response to Medicaid Expansion.  The IPP team for this project includes Kristi Ressel (Senior Research Analyst), Emily Johnson (Associate Director), Ryanne DeSpain (Research Analyst), Sara Gable (IPP Director), Mark Benton (Senior Research Analyst), Adam Thorp (Master's student in the Truman School), Aida Bilali Ka (Masters student in Health Management and Informatics), Ann Obadan (Ph.D. student in the Truman School), Hang Qi (Ph.D. candidate in the Truman School) and Beau Underwood (Ph.D. student in the Truman School).  Our partners for this project include Tracy Greever-Rice and staff from the MU Center for Health Policy and Dr. Julie Kapp, Associate Professor, MU Department of Health Management and Informatics.
