Missouri Transect Project : Regional Resilience and Vulnerability Indexes

The Institute of Public Policy (IPP), with funding from a National Science Foundation EPSCoR grant, has spent the first two years of the project researching what makes communities resilient in the face of natural and human-made threats.  The goal of this research was to provide communities with the capacity and tools to prepare resilience plans for a broad range of natural and human-made threats.

21st Century Afterschool Program Evaluation

Missouri Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program Evaluation

The Missouri Department of Health and Human Services (DHSS) contracted IPP to serve as the external evaluators for the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) and the Title V Sexual Risk Avoidance Education program (SRAE). Missouri’s PREP and SRAE programs are part of a national initiative to reduce teenage pregnancy rates through the use of evidence-based programs. DHSS chose five evidence-based programs to implement in Missouri:

Zika Virus and Birth Defects

The Institute of Public Policy conducted focus groups and surveys to understand the public’s awareness of the Zika virus and birth defects for the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services in order to strengthen the Missouri Zika Surveillance, Intervention and Referral System (MOZSIRS). The IPP conducted six focus groups in total between January and March 2018. Four focus groups and surveys were conducted with women of childbearing ages in Columbia, Kansas City, St. Louis, and Cape Girardeau.

Boone Indicators Dashboard Project

The Institute of Public Policy and OSEDA were contracted by the Boone Indicators Group to collect and maintain the most reliable data sources regarding populations and issues of Boone County residents in the Boone Indicators Dashboard.  The data is used by community stakeholders to inform their planning, resource investment, and management.
