Schultz to Lead the Development of the Legislative Leadership Academy

After a legislative tour around state government in Missouri, Kelly Schultz returns to MU as a member of the Truman School staff. 

Schultz is returning to the university as the Director of the Legislative Leadership Academy as a joint appointment with the Truman School of Government and Public Affairs and MU Extension & Engagement. This brand-new position will serve as a bridge between the Missouri General Assembly and the university. Schultz will also support political science and public affairs undergraduates in locating internships.

TSGPA Hosts Book Conference for Laron Williams' upcoming book “Voter Perceptions of Party Positions: Theory, Data, and Empirical Strategies.”

In an exciting initiative, the Truman School hosted a book conference on Friday, November 3rd.  The conference focused on the manuscript co-authored by Laron Williams (TSGPA Professor), David Fortunato, and Thiago Silva, titled "Voter Perceptions of Party Positions: Theory, Data, and Empirical Strategies."

Congress could elect a bipartisan non-member Speaker to break the partisan stalemate

Professor Zug has written a timely article concerning the leadership change in the US House of Representatives and how to break the partisan stalemate that dominates the way the House operates.  He writes, "One of the most curious provisions of the Constitution is that the Speaker of the House is not formally required to be a sitting member of that chamber.

 

IPP Staff co-author Practice Perspectives on Care Coordination in Rural Settings

In 2021, a team of MU researchers, including Kristi Ressel, former IPP Senior Research Analyst and Beau Underwood, Truman School doctoral student, conducted interviews of staff and administrators in rural Missouri health and health care organizations. They sought to understand how rural Missouri organizations implement care coordination that integrates social services with health care.
